Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 

Milling Operator

Job Purpose:

To mill rolls to blueprint specifications. 

Key responsibilities:

  •   Setting up and operating mills and controller.
  •   Reviewing customer blueprint and verifying work assignment.
  •   Inspecting milled dimension(s) to customer blueprint.
  •   Reporting all deviations from customer blueprint specifications.
  •   Milling rolls to customer blueprint specifications.

Key accountabilities:

  •  Observing company and safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  • Timely reporting of equipment problems and issues.
  •  Preventative maintenance on mill.
  •  Maintaining all equipment needed for milling operation.

Shift Supervisor and Department Manager


Consults with:

All levels of Department Personnel

All levels of Maintenance Personnel

All levels of Quality Assurance Personnel

All levels of Technical Services Personnel



Hourly (Starting wage $19.00 - $22.50) Based on Experience 

Benefits after 90 days

High School Diploma or GED

Previous milling experience or technical training in machining or machining related skills preferred, but not required

Strong mathematical skills (fractions, decimals, conversions and measurement)

Proficient in the interpretation and utilization of blueprints


Attention to detail

Ability to work at heights and in confined area

Must be able to bend, lift and twist 60 to 80 lbs

Must be able to pass pre-employment tests (Physical, drug test and background check)

Must be able to get dirty

Ability to work different shifts (possible overtime)
